Bilbao is one of the great university cities of northern Spain: the University of Deusto sits on the riverbank right opposite the Guggenheim, and the UPV/EHU spreads its faculties between Leioa, Sarriko and the School of Engineering next to San Mamés. It is a compact, green city where the metro links any district with your classes in twenty minutes. On Lupo Rooms you find rooms verified one by one, with the final price upfront and a clear contract from day one.
These are the real prices of the rooms available right now in Bilbao, per person per month, with no hidden fees:

Bilbao has two major institutions. The University of Deusto, private and founded in 1886, occupies a historic campus on the bank of the estuary opposite the Guggenheim, with Law, Business (Deusto Business School), Psychology and Engineering. The public UPV/EHU spreads its Bizkaia campus between Leioa — Medicine, Sciences and Arts — the Faculty of Economics and Business in Sarriko, and the Bilbao School of Engineering in the Torres Ingenieros next to San Mamés.
Deusto and San Ignacio are the student districts par excellence: right by the Deusto campus, with a direct metro to Leioa and prices lower than the centre. Abando and Indautxu are the most central and expensive areas, a step from San Mamés and the School of Engineering. The Casco Viejo has all the txikiteo atmosphere, while Santutxu, Basurto, Txurdinaga and Zorroza offer bigger, cheaper flats well served by metro and Bilbobus.
Bilbao is not the cheapest city in the north, but it stays affordable for students. A room in a shared flat costs between 350 and 500 euros a month depending on the district and whether bills are included, and a place in a student residence between 550 and 950 with utilities and services. Add around 200-250 euros for food plus the Barik travel card, which is very cheap on the young person's fare.
The Bilbao metro is the backbone of the city: line 1 runs out to Leioa, with the UPV/EHU campus a few minutes from the station, and both lines stop at Deusto and San Ignacio. The Euskotren tram follows the estuary past the Guggenheim, Abando and the Casco Viejo. Bilbobus covers the hillside districts such as Santutxu and Txurdinaga, and Bizkaibus connects with Getxo, Leioa and the rest of Bizkaia.
