Universidade de Lisboa is the largest university in Portugal and one of the most prestigious in the country, with tens of thousands of students spread across several campuses in the city. On Lupo Rooms you'll find rooms verified one by one near its campuses, available all year round, with transparent contracts and no agency fees.
The University of Lisbon (ULisboa) is an urban university spread across several campuses. Its main hub is the Cidade Universitária, next to Campo Grande and Alvalade, where many of its faculties come together. The Instituto Superior Técnico (IST), its major engineering school, has its historic campus in Alameda, right next to its own metro stop; ISEG, the economics and management school, sits close to the centre. It's a general university with an enormous student life, fully woven into the city.
The best area depends on your faculty. For the Cidade Universitária, Alvalade, Campo Grande and the Avenidas Novas are the natural choice, packed with student flats; for the IST in Alameda, Areeiro, Arroios and Saldanha are right next door and very well connected by metro. The centre and neighbourhoods like Campo de Ourique work if atmosphere is your priority, with a good connection to the campuses.
Living near ULisboa costs what's typical in Lisbon: a room is around 350-650 euros a month, more affordable in Arroios or Marvila and a bit pricier in the Avenidas Novas or the centre. Add food and very cheap transport: the navegante pass for students brings metro, bus and tram down to very little a month. Sharing a flat in Alvalade or Areeiro is the cheapest formula for ULisboa students.
The ULisboa campuses are very well connected. The Cidade Universitária has its own metro stop (yellow line), and the IST in Alameda sits next to the green and red lines. Carris buses and trams and GIRA public bikes round out the options, and with the navegante pass transport costs very little. For most students, the metro is the fastest way to move between the campuses and the centre.
