The Polytechnic University of Valencia (UPV) is concentrated on its Vera campus, a large complex in the northeast of the city, next to Tarongers and a stone's throw from Malvarrosa beach. It's a technical university with schools of civil, telecommunications, computer and industrial engineering, as well as architecture and fine arts. The campus is spacious, modern and full of its own life, and it attracts many international students.
To study at the UPV, the ideal is to live near the Vera campus. Benimaclet is the favourite choice: a student, alternative neighbourhood just a few minutes by bike from campus. Algiros and the Tarongers area are also very close and full of students. If you love the beach, Camins al Grau or the areas towards Malvarrosa put you steps from the sea and the university complex.
Living near the UPV costs what's normal in Valencia: a room is around 300-500 euros a month, with Benimaclet and Algiros in the mid range. Add some 180-280 euros for food and very little for transport, because almost everything is done by bike. Sharing a flat in Benimaclet or next to the Vera campus is the cheapest formula for UPV students.
The Vera campus is very well connected for students. From Benimaclet or Algiros you can get there in just a few minutes by bike, and Valenbisi has stations all over the area. The Metrovalencia tram skirts the campus and links it with the centre and Malvarrosa beach, which is very close by. The EMT buses complete the network, although most students get around by bicycle.
