The University of Valencia (UV) spreads its activity across two large urban campuses. The Blasco Ibanez campus hosts humanities, philology, geography and health sciences such as medicine, nursing and psychology. The Tarongers campus, to the northeast, brings together economics, law, social sciences and education. It's a general public university with a strong student life, deeply woven into the fabric of the city.
To study at the UV, the best areas are Blasco Ibanez and Algiros, right beside the humanities and health campus and full of students and services. Benimaclet is just steps from Tarongers and the young neighbourhood par excellence. If you study at Tarongers, the Camins al Grau area is also convenient and well connected. The historic centre and Russafa are an option with more atmosphere, in exchange for a slightly longer commute.
Living near the UV costs what's typical in Valencia: a room is around 300-500 euros a month, more affordable in Algiros or Benimaclet and a bit pricier in the centre. Add some 180-280 euros for food and very little for transport, since almost everything is within cycling distance. Sharing a flat in the university areas is the cheapest formula for UV students.
The UV campuses are very well connected. Blasco Ibanez and Tarongers can be reached by bike in just a few minutes from the student neighbourhoods, and Valenbisi fills the area with public bike stations. The Metrovalencia tram links Tarongers and the university area with the centre and the beach, and the EMT buses complete the network. For most students, the bike is the fastest and cheapest option.
