How to find a room in Barcelona as an Erasmus student

Finding a flat in Barcelona can be daunting, especially from abroad. Follow these steps to get a good room, at a fair price and without risks.

1. Start early and set a budget

Budget €400-650 per month. Demand for September spikes in spring. Many occupied rooms free up in summer and you can book them now for your move-in date.

2. Pick an area based on your faculty

Before falling in love with a room, check where your university is. Explore the Barcelona listings and use the map to see what is within walking distance of your campus.

3. Only book on platforms with verification

Golden rule: never pay a deposit by transfer to someone you cannot verify. On Lupo Rooms rooms are verified, the landlord is identified and the deposit is protected until you move in.

4. Have your documents ready

To book you usually only need your ID or passport and your acceptance letter or enrolment. No payslip or guarantor required.

5. Scam warning signs
